Thank you Tita Cory for turning this God-forsaken country around. At least for a time. I know you tried but those following you just kept on destroying things you have already accomplished. At least you tried and given us hope for now.

But then again Filipinos are very forgetful sad to say....

I have no regrets waiting 5 hours for you Tita Cory. I know the Commonwealth and the pre-Marcos presidents were all gracious and good and the Philippines was so progressive at the time but I wasn't born then. I didn't know them. I grew up knowing you and liking you more and more. Hey you're with Ninoy now. At long last. I think you deserve all of this.

Thank you Tita Cory! You'll be sorely missed!

On less serious talk...

My parents and I made small talk with some of the people waiting in 711 Sucat earlier. From what they were saying my gosh it's not impossible for Kris Aquino to go after and win the presidency next year. Well, they'll try with Noynoy but everyone just sympathizes with Kris more...Hey candidacy is still open till November, right? By that time Cory magic might still be fresh....There was a running joke among the crowd earlier. If this happens then James Yap will be FG. Boy Abunda will be the VP and their partido would be The Buzz Party. That'll be interesting. Well. Better than the losers who think they're president material. Sniffs.

old pocketbooks

Wow! A year and a quarter of journal neglect!

And after typing like a ton of things LJ just decided to erase everything. Great.

Anyway, retyping again, I'm thinking of disposing all my old pocketbooks. You know the Sweet Valley/Sweet Dreams collections we used to have in elementary. I sort of have this energy na to finally clean my room of all this useless clutter (old makeup, scratch papers, VHS tapes, etc) I have no idea though about the pricing as I sort of grew up with the books and was fond of them for a long time. If worse comes to worse I may just put them in a big box, dump them outside and wait for the dumpsters to pick it up. I wasn't able to join recycling week in the office last week eh sayang. Although of course it's much better to have someone buy it. Not sure though if anyone's collecting pa these things, maybe I'm the only one placing some semblance of value on them. Can I sell them in Booksale maybe? Not familiar with the process and all though...I'm also too lazy to catalogue and post them in Ebay. The effort might not be worth it.

***I have BITTER RIVALS from SVH! The one when Amy Sutton went back from a temporary hiatus in Vermont. She went back changed to a new Queen B and that's when she became Jessica's new BFF. Haha, amazing I really hated her that time.

I may be selling some assorted manga and J-rock stuff at a later time I guess. Interest is definitely waning but I have to think it through first as I paid loads shipping it from Japan to here...and the sentimental value I certainly cannot imagine. Maybe I'm just getting old. I think I just need to get rid of the clutter.

I've finally plucked out of torrent the whole discography of Rin' (yes may kawit po sa dulo).  They're an awesome Japanese three-girl band much like Australian/British version of BOND or China's TWELVE GIRL BAND.  I remember being in Japan in 2004 and listening to their first CD my French friend lent to me.  Sadly, I lost my own copy and had for 2 years been idly searching downloadables from the net.  I forgot about them after a while and began hunting their discog down after re-organizing some CDs in my cabinet.

Their music is AWESOME! They're sort of Angura-Kei much like Kagrra, (yes may comma naman po sa dulo) and that genre has been such an addictive past-time of mine.  These girls can play the koto, biwa, shakuhachi and other traditional Japanese instruments, and they mix it with a lot of pop and rock.  I

Their latest album has a small collaboration with Lisa Loeb.  Easy listening.  For those interested in modern music mixed a lot with East Asian instruments then listening to their albums--a must.  I recommend starting off with Sakitama.  What a piece.

We spent the good part of our Christmas Eve in the hospital.  My mom just confined herself there as she couldn't eat much and needed a dextrose for nutrition.  I was joking about it with the rest of the family that she just couldn't take the horrid stuff that our new housekeeper makes for us every meal that she decided to take fasting to an extreme level and got herself sick.  Which wasn't entirely the case as I believe it was stress, mixed with dehydration that got her into the hospital in the first place.

Christmas in hospitals suck by the way.  Even though it was the Asian Hospital, the place still looked very much UNHAPPY given the cheeriness of the season.  Rumors are true though that they DO charge exhorbitant prices for room rates and all of them go to the following: there is unparalleled hospital room service, room equipments are obviously clean and updated and corridor walls won't remind you of Silent Hill (unlike the U.P. Health Center which I believe is a horrible place to be in much less stay in the dead of night).

We went in from the emergency room so at first I was disappointed because it looked like any normal E.R. except there were less people and was quite clean and had the best Nescafe vending machine I've ever seen in a Philippine building.  I reminded myself not to touch anything or sit in beds while we waited for my Mom to be transferred to a room.   It was 11.30 and my little bro (feeling wildly adventurous and stupid) wandered around for a bit.  I was thinking whether those wheelchairs randomly placed in corridors would suddenly move and attack us ala Silent Hill 4 and was ghastly appalled to find my brother and I don't even have broomsticks to defend ourselves.  The main lobby was lackluster.  It was closed but it DID semble a hotel lobby like what I've heard from people before.  The elevator was impressive, it was very posh, very glassy and most definitely expensive-looking, much like those that they have in the Enterprise Building.  Really, it was a cookie-cutter version of a set in E.R., even House (yeah even that).  I was impressed but was bored easily.

We're going to go back tonight as my mom's set for another Day 2 of dextrose-induced nutrition.  I think it's not such a bad thing to be confined there (to try something different with your life) just make sure you have your healthcard with you as room rates are SO NOT OKAY, unless you decide to stick to the Wards (4 people in a room I think) for 650 pesos a night.  But by god, why choose the Asian Hospital for THAT? Also, definitely choose a date not specific to Christmas! Hospitals are the least cheery place to spend your holidays in.

My eyes hurt.  I've been juggling between a marathon of ALIAS and reading George Orwell's 1984.  Plus I have a ton of gifts to wrap before our Noche Buena tonight.  Well, actually my mom's sick spasming since yesterday so I think we'll be having the most unorthodox Filipino New Year's Eve tonight--invite extension family members to our house for good old take-outs and bottles of whatnots...

1) So on to current fixes.  I never knew that it was George Orwell's novel that first coined the word BIG BROTHER.  Well, as it turns out Big Brother is the villain of this book, the head of a corrupt authoritarian government who does nothing but poke into everyone else's lives via hidden microphones and transmitters found in TVs.  Interesting...I've always known Channel 2's Big Brother is sort of a villain too, hehe.  HATE his voice...terribly... such a useless trivia to know!

2) I feel like such a neanderthal only knowing just now what a great show ALIAS was.  I remember

[info]reeyahwatching weekly at our studio unit's telly during college.  I never really got to complete a single episode.  I think I was too fascinated at that time with Encantadia or Sugo or whatever shit our local TV belched back then.  I now have this sick almost obsessive fascination with Julian Sark...he reminds me a lot of a grown-up Draco.  God I love blond boys with cheeky grins and smarmy attitudes.

This holiday season (well, not just this season I'd have to say), I'm a bit concerned with the reaction my mom would get after seeing the latest MERALCO bill.  I reckon, for the entire day, EVERYDAY there are 5 computers turned on in the house.  Downstairs, their's her own PC.  Upstairs, their's my PC, 1 laptop and 2 PCs that my brothers use for online games and other shit.  Not to mention that I mess around with the Playstation sometimes and at the same time watch DVD in another telly....bottomline is I think my family and I have got to get out into the sunshine and stop sucking greedy energy and reduce our utility payments.

There's a party going on downstairs.  Guests are mostly my parents' employees.  They're getting quite a bit rowdy which is A-ok....I could tolerate it while sleeping.  However, I got a little bored so I found myself looking up some stuff in the net.  These past few weeks I believe I've turned into the worst antisocial person ever.  There's something wrong...

....I was giddy when I found out I got the last beer in the cooler.  All mine for the taking hoozah.

But I have to say....can they please stop playing that fu*king Papaya Song over and over? My head's going blooody berzuk for crying out loud...

------------------------------------------

I find myself getting bored very very easily recently...I really think I have to do the ermitanyo thing that Anna's talking about and ship myself off to this place in Zambales she went to once or swim in Pinatubo or something.  I need something fu*king new to do.

I also have to see what's happening in UP now, my friend was part of a group that did the Christmas lights in Quezon Hall and I also have to see how they would resurrect the UP clock bells. Gad, I miss college.

This would probably be the most incoherent entry I've ever done in LJ.

Parang tanga yung nangyari kanina.  Talagang gusto pa nila na may manirang tanke ng lobby at pintuan para lang mahuli sila diba? Babayaran ba nila yon? May pambayad sila? Manila Pen yon mga ungas.

We have a 24-hour family business.  Babayaran ba nila yung lost sales dahil sa pesteng curfew na yan?

If they're really concerned with the f*cking economy, bagsak na po yung stocks, sige pabagsakin niyo pa para makabili na ulit ako.  Oh, and by the way, tumaas din pala afterwards yung PSEI after 10 minutes of plunging kasi they realized what losers these Magdalo people are.

Another thing, pwede ba, gandahan naman ng media yung choice nila for people to interview? My dad and bro were watching the news and they began interviewing Katipunan people (Ateneo and UP students) and the three of us were laughing our asses off with some of the answers that these supposedly smart people gave.  Everything was like blahblahblah, breathe, blahblahblah.  Yung iba talagang paikot ikot lang, pabilisan lang ng sagot in English eh.  Nakakainis.  Magsabayang bigkas daw ba...I'm sorry, my bro and I came from the same school as these people kaya o diba hindi kami proud sa kanila, hahaha.  Sana the media chose to interview more of the normal ordinary people talaga na affected with the crap spewing out of Manila Pen kanina like, more drivers, more commuters, more office people....I was stuck in traffic for 3 fucking hours, man helloooooo......at 8pm na ko umalis sa work niyan, san ka pa.

Sabi nga ng dad ko, sa umpisa lang ang plano, sa umpisa lang ang laban.  Hindi naman lahat sumali sa aksyon.  Tear gas lang pala katapat ng mga yan.  Kung pwede lang, I'll get me a handful of those things and set them on stupid clients who don't know what's left from right.

I'm not sure if this is insider stuff or a nasty joke pero I heard that with the ongoing trend of remaking hit foreign series like Marimar and Shaider, ABS-CBN is also moving to Tagalize Hikari Sentai Maskman

I like GMA 7's Marimar.  I find it highly entertaining although a little disappointed with Marianne Rivera's portrayal of Bella sometimes.  Sometimes she just ends as too whiny or too pa-keme which was not the case with Thalia.  As for D Dantes as Sergio--gad I won't start on that.  Nevertheless, I really enjoy the Filipino version, especially with Mane Reynes as Corazon.

Sa Zaido naman, well, let's say I turn the channel to Jack TV's Just For Laughs or Motor Mouth or some boring CNBC clip instead of watching that piece of crap they call Shaider part 2. I mean, hello???? Pwede???

Back to Maskman the Filipino version, I believe they'll be starred daw by the following people:

Michael Joe - Gerald Anderson
Prinsess Iyaru/Ikabooooooo - Kim C.
Professor - Albert Martinez
Momoko (forgot her tagalog name, was it Mary Rose? Or something like that)  - some Nina girl from PBB celeb edition

etcetera etcetera.  Bagay naman.....kelangan lang tumanda ni Gerald and Kim ng konti...Apparently, they're going to be directly coordinating with Japan Mazda to create this piece.  Well, what do you knoooow? I heard Richard Gomez of KAMANDAG is coordinating with a UFC champion with his stunts effect whatever but all I could see from the trailers were craf, craf, craf.  Pero eto lang masasabi ko.  Sinubaybayan ko ang Encantadia, Etheria and Sugo for that matter.  :D

Ay naku, ewan basta sana gandahan nalang nila if they do intend to make the Tagalog version of Maskman in the future.  Sinimulan naman na din nilang sirain ang 80s childhood natin, ano pang use na pigilan sila.

Pero eto talaga the best...

If you enjoyed Hana Yori Dango aka Meteor Garden and think of having a Tagalog version of it, then this definitely is a must view.

I remembered snorkeling in Palawan two summers ago.  I freaked out when I suddenly went downwards as I stepped off a deep underwater cliff.  Luckily I managed to tread continously until I felt it was safe, I'm still alive so I guess I did a good job?

So I said no to a surfing invitation from a dear friend.  Tomorrow.  In La Union.

I must be kidding myself somehow.  Surfing sounds fun...I'd rather do wakeboarding but surfing sounds fun....

Would these reasons suffice...?

a) I'm not a very good survival swimmer...so I'm pretty sure I'd just get tossed around and eventually find myself lodged under the tides until found dead.
b) I'm afraid of sharks
c) I'm not very fond of little fishies that bite you (and definitely never go to any fishy area as they'd be areas where sharks would like to lurk...)
d) I'm guessing it's maalon over there (pero duh...surfing...)
e) Prefer diving pools than the deep vast ocean
f)  Still couldn't get over the underwater cliff thing in Palawan
g) There aren't that many people there.  So if I cry out for help would they hear me as they too are busy with their own private waves?
h) I'm a sucker if I expect someone to save my life.  I mean come on.

I'd rather do wakeboarding or kayaking or some other water sport with artificial safety devices to hang on to for dear life.

If Ana Chan goes back home sound and unscathed (minus the ultra-tan she's gonna get--bummer) then maybe I'll be game next time.  Her friend Yurika said there's gonna be a surfing tourney in Camarines Sur next week.  Jezuz, who'd want to look like a mess in front of the pros? Unless they're very good looking pros....

So much for a belated Billabong summer.
